GreenSky Bluegrass is a talented, drumless five-piece bluegrass band that was formed during the mid-2000s in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The foot-stomping jam band is well-known for breaking the rules of traditional American bluegrass music and have incorporated the firey spirit of rock and roll into their songs. GreenSky Bluegrass’s founding members are banjoist Michael Arlen Bont, mandolinist Paul Hoffman and guitarist David Bruzza. Former members, Al Bates and Christopher Carr, had left the group after the release of their first studio album Less than Supper. During fall 2004, Anders Beck had replaced Bates as their new dobro player and Michael Devol, a former classical cellist, had joined the group as their new upright bassist.
In 2006, the annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Colorado had held one of their much-anticipated events, the Telluride Bluegrass Band Competition. GreenSky Bluegrass took home the grand prize which included a spot on the main stage of next year’s Telluride festival. That pivotal moment led up to the band’s second full-length studio album, Tuesday Letter. The album was produced by Tim Carbone, the violinist of the New Jersey-based bluegrass band Railroad Earth. GreenSky soon become a household name for bluegrass lovers nationwide. The band’s synergistic sounds and their energy onstage had helped bring them to some of the world’s famous venues including Red Rocks, the New Orleans Jazz Festival, Ryman, Austin City Limits and Outside Lands among others.
The band likes to treat their audience to a large production during their live shows. They want to give them a memorable experience and will play several sets of music each night, as well as provide them with an impressive light show. Bruzza has shared that they aim to create a live experience where people can put their worries aside and “escape from their everyday lives for a minute.“ GreenSky Bluesgrass has released 6 studio albums and several live albums, their last released was produced by Steve Berlin of Los Lobos. On Jan. 18, 2019 they will launch their newest album, All For Money, and will kick off a U.S. winter tour across the East Coast.
Alex Pall and his partner Andrew Taggart have become just unstoppable; their fame spreading from one corner of New York City to another. Being young artists who are very talented in making their audience go wild, the duo is gaining popularity daily featuring in various events even in places they never thought they would perform. Their charming music has always left their audiences not satisfied even after hours of performance. This is the reason why they are on the lookout for the next performance by the duo.
Alex Pall being part of the duo started as a DJ in New York City where he was only doing it for a fan as part of his hobby. Though it was a hobby thing, he was more passionate about it than the work he was doing. After some time he got more consumed with dance music which made him resign from his job and he decided to give a full shot into his passion. His then manager who they still work with connected him to Drew who was in Maine. So Drew came to New York to meet Pall who they just clicked and started what they loved doing.
It was like a coincidence that both Alex Pall and Drew loved dance music and so it was not a hard thing to get along very easily. Their artist name, Chainsmokers, came in place in 2012 and it’s just amazing to see the long strides they have taken within some few years.
With their release of “Closer”, a famous track which featured Halsey, Alex Pall and Drew became the most sought-after artists in the city. Definitely, this was an exploration to a new field they had not done it before because they are used offering songwriters the DJ services. Of course, this release made many realize the Alex is also a person with feelings and not just a statue behind the DJ desk. The duo is giving a taste and a whole different experience to dance music which doesn’t involve emotions.
Alex Pall is determined to take their music to heights while giving their customers the dose and injections they are thirsty for. He is also planning to go on partnering with some awesome artists like Halsey and reaching his fans through various social media avenues.
